School outreach

Upholding the novelty of IISER as an Institute meant to foster, nourish and evolve scientific thinking, Singularity aims to promote out-of-the-box thinking and inculcate scientific temperament in the youth. School Outreach programs are an integral part of it. With all the past editions of Singularity, we've successfully kept the fire of knowledge burning. She is an associate professor in the Biological Sciences Department of IISERB. Visiting Researcher,Institute of Evolutionary Biology ,University of Edinburgh. Topic: Importance of plant studies and evolutionary studies.

K.P Mohanan

Prof. KP Mohanan did his PhD in linguistics from MIT, and has taught at the University of Texas at Austin; MIT; Stanford University; National University of Singapore (NUS), and IISER Pune. He is a Co-Founder of the ThinQ organization which aims to promote critical thinking and scientific ideas through various courses and events. http://www.thinq.education/

Sci-Thon

A virtual Science Marathon cum quiz which will test one's knowledge and problem solving skills. It will also test one based on their dexterity, patience and interpersonal skills. This is a team event (1- 4 members per team) where participants will be provided with e- certificates .There is no limit on the number of teams per school
Eligibility:9th to 12th standard
Date: 9th October 2021 Time: 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Instructions
1. The Science Marathon will go on for 3 hours from 1pm to 4pm.
2. There will be questions from all disciplines namely, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology
3. Participants will receive an email at 1pm which will contain the pdf file pertaining to the questions.
4. Participants are allowed to Google unfamiliar terms.
5. Apart from this, the email will also contain a link to the google form to fill in the answers. This will help the participants (and us) to keep track of the marathon. It is compulsory to submit this form at the end, even if one hasn't completed the marathon yet. Teams whose forms are not submitted within the time limit will not be evaluated and hence will not be eligible for receiving the certificates.
